Transcript [00:00] This is huge. We've just caught a senior [00:03] Victorian government public health [00:05] official on camera attending the October [00:08] 7 vigil for Hamas in Melbourne before [00:11] turning violent herself. Stay with us. [00:14] You're going to want to see this. [00:18] Last week, we went to Melbourne's [00:20] October 7 vigil to do what the ABC [00:22] refuses to do, to show you exactly who [00:24] was taking over our streets. And what [00:27] happened next was shocking. [00:30] kicking. He's kicking. They're [00:32] assaulting security. This [00:47] >> We're here. We're here. We're here. [00:50] >> Is this Is this I'm causing problems? [00:52] Wait. I'm causing peace for everyone. [00:54] I'm causing [00:55] >> You are You're not journalist at the [00:57] moment. You are reverting the situation. [00:58] You need to move back. [01:00] >> No. No. That's not my time to move. I'm [01:02] not moving. Don't move me back. Don't [01:04] touch me. You have no shame. You have no [01:08] shame. But on October 7, [01:11] I'm not touching, sergeant, mate. You're [01:13] so [ __ ] tough. Yeah. Look at you. [01:18] Are you threatening me? You're [01:20] threatening me. You're just threatening [01:22] me. It says on your shoulder, uphold the [01:23] right. Uphold the right. That's what you [01:25] need to do [01:25] >> to be respectful. [01:26] >> I need to be respectful. I have one cop [01:29] threatening to bash me in Corfield and [01:31] another cop threatening to unlawfully [01:32] arrest me. So, don't talk about [01:34] respectful. The response from you guys [01:35] has been phenomenal. So many of you [01:37] shared the footage and asked what else [01:39] you could do to help beyond chipping [01:40] into our muchneeded security fund at [01:42] protect.com and you could still do that. [01:44] We need it. But many of you took action [01:46] on your own. You lodged complaints with [01:48] Victoria Police and our legal team did [01:51] that too. And now I can reveal that [01:53] Victoria Police has launched an official [01:55] internal investigation into what [01:56] happened that day, including the officer [01:59] who grabbed me by the throat and the [02:01] repeated threats to arrest me while I [02:03] was simply doing my job as a journalist. [02:05] >> Arresting you. Arrest me one direction. [02:09] I'm not going to I'm not listening. I [02:10] will be [02:12] >> We've demanded a few pretty simple [02:14] things. an apology, appropriate [02:15] disciplinary action, and proper training [02:18] for frontline officers so they [02:20] understand their duty to protect [02:21] journalists doing their job. Now, if [02:24] they address these concerns properly, [02:26] great. If not, we'll take it further. [02:28] But while Victoria Police investigates [02:30] its own officers, we've been conducting [02:33] an investigation of our own, and what [02:35] we've uncovered goes straight to the [02:37] heart of the Victorian government. [02:39] Remember this woman who initially walked [02:42] up to me as I arrived at their vigil for [02:45] the terrorists? [02:45] >> Absolutely not welcome here. [02:47] >> I'm not welcome here. [02:48] >> Absolutely not. [02:48] >> Is it Australia? October 7. You're [02:51] telling me I'm not welcome here? [02:54] >> As you can see, she approached me and [02:56] told me I wasn't welcome in a public [02:59] space while I was working as a [03:01] journalist. But after we published that [03:04] footage, I got a tip. Somebody [03:06] recognized her. And what they told me [03:09] was very, very interesting. This wasn't [03:12] just another pro Palestinian protester. [03:14] According to the tip, she was a senior [03:16] Victorian government public health [03:18] official. So, we started digging and [03:21] what we uncovered was extraordinary. Our [03:23] investigation has identified this woman [03:25] as Amira Qatar, an Egyptian migrant who [03:29] was one of the architects of Victoria's [03:31] overreaching CO public health response. [03:34] So, she wasn't just some bureaucrat. She [03:36] was a senior member of a Melbourne [03:39] University team responsible for [03:41] designing policies that destroyed the [03:43] lives of millions of Victorians [03:46] and was then rewarded for that amazing [03:48] work with a senior role at Emergency [03:51] Management Victoria. So, once we [03:54] realized who we were dealing with, our [03:56] team went back through the footage to [03:57] track her specific movements among the [04:00] chaos after she initially confronted me. [04:03] And what we found was even more [04:05] disturbing. [04:05] >> I'm not welcome here. [04:06] >> Absolutely not. [04:07] >> Is it Australia? October 7. You're [04:10] telling me I'm not welcome here? [04:16] >> Kicking. He's kicking. They're [04:18] assaulting security. [04:26] It turned out that the woman we've [04:28] identified as a senior Victorian public [04:30] health official didn't simply just tell [04:32] us to leave. She actually repeatedly [04:35] encouraged protesters to push forward [04:38] into me and my security team. And even [04:41] as members of the crowd she was [04:44] encouraging turned violent, she appeared [04:47] to keep inciting them. then at one point [04:50] picking up an umbrella that her friends [04:52] were initially using to push into my [04:54] security team's faces before it getting [04:56] struck out of the hands. But instead of [04:58] picking it up to move it out of the way, [05:01] she picked it up to use it as a weapon [05:03] herself against my security by striking [05:07] it up for a [ __ ] domestic abuse. [05:10] >> So let's be completely clear. This [05:11] wasn't just some heated exchange of [05:13] words. We were doing our jobs reporting [05:15] in a public place, a matter of public [05:17] interest before being set upon by a [05:20] violent mob. A mob that this senior [05:23] public health official was actively [05:26] encouraging. [05:27] And as their violence escalated rather [05:30] than deescalating, she joined in. All [05:33] while targeting a Jewish journalist on [05:35] the anniversary of the worst massacre of [05:38] Jewish people since the Holocaust at a [05:40] vigil commemorating terrorists. Let that [05:43] sink in. By the way, this was a [05:46] terrorist supporting vigil that the [05:47] Victorian premier himself publicly [05:50] condemned, meaning it was too far even [05:53] for Labour's Ben Carroll, which raises [05:56] some very serious questions for the [05:57] Victorian government. Questions we put [06:00] directly to Emergency Management [06:02] Victoria. And to their credit, EMV [06:05] appears to be taking the allegation [06:07] seriously, committing to an [06:09] investigation. I just wanted to check in [06:11] with you personally before we just sent [06:13] you a bit in response just to app. [06:17] >> Yeah. No, I'm okay. We're just following [06:18] it up. Look, to be honest, we got a tip [06:20] about it and um I I didn't know it at [06:23] first that who she was, but um once we [06:26] became aware, I just want to make sure [06:28] to include you guys to the story. [06:32] >> All right. Well, thank you. Um yeah, if [06:33] you if you want anything further from [06:35] us, just give me a buzz anytime. [06:38] >> And we're going to hold them to that. So [06:40] now we have two investigations to [06:42] follow. One by Victoria Police and the [06:44] other promised by Emergency Management [06:47] Victoria because the public deserves [06:49] answers about everything that unfolded [06:52] that day, especially when some of the [06:54] worst behavior came from public servants [06:58] themselves. We demand accountability and [07:01] we're not going to be intimidated into [07:03] silence. Journalists have every right to [07:06] report from public places whether [07:09] protesters like it or not, whether the [07:11] police like it or not, and whether those [07:14] facing allegations are government [07:16] officials or not. [07:19] If you think it's important to hold [07:21] these public servants accountable, make [07:22] sure to like, comment, but most [07:23] importantly, share it far and wide. And [07:26] as you've seen, none of this reporting [07:28] is possible without our security team. I [07:31] had six bodyguards with me that day, and [07:33] I needed every single one of them. But [07:36] that protection costs thousands of [07:37] dollars every time we hit the streets. [07:39] So, if you believe in this independent [07:42] journalism and our right to report [07:44] without intimidation, please consider [07:46] helping us at protective.com or simply [07:48] by scanning the QR code on screen [07:51] because Victorians deserve to know the [07:53] truth about what's happening on our [07:55] streets and those, especially the public [07:57] servants behind it. protect.com or scan
