Transcript [00:13] Shalom, Erev Tov – Good evening, welcome to our daily TV7 Israel [00:17] News bulletin broadcast from Jerusalem; President Donald Trump says he is granting [00:23] Iran “every last chance before decapitation” Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman, are trying to convince [00:31] Iran to negotiate with the United States. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlights [00:37] that the Iranian economy is in free-fall. The United States is granting the Ayatollah Regime [00:46] in Iran “every last chance before decapitation”. During an Executive Order signing ceremony, [00:53] President Donald Trump was asked about whether the talks with Iran were taking place – that [00:59] after the Iranian Foreign Ministry insisted that no negotiations were taking place with [01:05] the United States. Mr. President, are the talks with Iran now off and our air strikes...? No, [01:12] they’re on. They are going on right now. It's an amazing thing. We have a little problem with Iran [01:16] because we have many talks and we'll say we have or we don't have, you know, we're straight about [01:21] it, but they deny it. But they're not denying it now. They just put out a statement not denying it. [01:26] But for some reason they... when they're talking, they don't like saying that they're talking. So, [01:33] I say wait we're in talks. Big deal. We're in talks. And they'll sometimes deny it even though [01:38] they spend hours and hours together talking. Now, the talks are going along. We were going [01:44] to hit them very hard yesterday. Very, very hard. Harder than any attack. I think I can say general, [01:51] from a point of knowledge, any attack since World War II. That's pretty big. And we were set to go. [01:59] And they called. And in addition, Saudi Arabia called and UAE called, Qatar called. Got calls [02:08] from numerous people. Not... I don't want to use the word begging, but some were, in particular [02:15] Iran, did not want to be hit. And they said, "We want to talk. We want to talk about the Strait, [02:21] but more importantly from my standpoint, we want to talk about the denuclearization of Iran because [02:28] it's what it's all about. This is why I'm doing this. President Trump continued by emphasizing [02:34] the talks with Iran focus on two major issues, to include – first and foremost – the immediate [02:39] opening of the Strait of Hormuz – and secondly – the denuclearization of Iran. I mean, they're [02:46] going to go quickly one way or the other. It's not very complex. We're talking about the strait, the [02:52] opening of the strait, having it open literally by tomorrow, completely open. And that's phase [02:59] one. And phase two is we then will talk about the nuclear capacity, the nuclear what you know, as [03:06] we've been mentioning the basically it's I think most the denuclearization of Iran has to happen. [03:13] Has to happen and that'll be the second phase. But the first phase is the opening of the straits. The [03:18] second phase will be the denuclearization. And that'll take a little while, but we're [03:25] very strong on it. They cannot have a nuclear weapon. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. And [03:30] I have never changed in that. President Trump was further asked about whether he would accept Iran’s [03:36] demands to impose tolls on the Strait of Hormuz. Has to be. I'm not going to let him charge. If [03:42] anybody’s going to charge, we’ll charge. We're the one that has total. We have total control. You [03:47] know, we have a thing called a blockade with his navy and that navy it's a, they call it, a wall [03:53] of steel. The United States wall of steel. And no, no, there's not going to be charging. We're [03:59] not talking about charging at all. There won't be charging. Trump went on to express his hope [04:04] not to have to launch a devastating attack that would result is destructive consequences to Iran [04:11] as a whole. I don't know. I think we're going to maybe get something, but I want to give them every [04:16] last chance before decapitation. Very tough to do what... we have planned... We'll see what happens. [04:26] But it's very, very tough thing to do. I think, I'm very proud of the fact that I will give people [04:32] I'll give people a chance. This is a big move to do an attack that big on a country I'd rather not [04:39] do it. Now we've already through lots of large attacks, but they were normal large. Hopefully, [04:47] they'll come to their senses because what happened (they) cannot have a nuclear weapon but hopefully [04:54] they'll come to their senses. So, they called me and they said, "Please don't attack. We'll make a [05:00] deal." That's the real truth. And everyone knows it. However, the Trump Administration evidently [05:08] understands that unless the Ayatollah regime changes fundamentally, a diplomatic resolution [05:14] cannot be achieved. This comprehension was articulated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, [05:22] when asked during an Exclusive Interview with Fox News, on whether denuclearization of Iran [05:29] can be achieved absent regime change. The regime has to change. You may not have a regime change, [05:35] but the regime has to change. The Iranian regime traditionally has been expeditionary in essence. [05:41] Their view is that they don’t want just to govern Iran. They want to govern the region. They want to [05:46] export the revolution. That does have to change. And the only way you’re going to change that is if [05:51] you make the price of it too high for they to be able to pay... Despite voiced hopes by President [05:57] Trump of reaching an imminent deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz – the Ayatollah regime [06:02] continues to reject claims of talks taking place behind closed doors. According to the Iranians, [06:08] the only talks taking place are between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman. Moreover, Iranian Foreign [06:14] Ministry Spokesman Ismaeil Baghaei unabashedly insisted that the reason the IRGC continues to [06:21] attack freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, is because of the United States and [06:26] Israel. The Strait of Hormuz was not closed due to a difference of views between Iran and Oman. [06:38] The Strait of Hormuz faced problems because of the military aggression by America and [06:44] the Zionist regime since February 28. As long as America’s aggression continues, [06:52] as long as Iran remains under a naval blockade, and as long as the U.S. military aggression [06:58] against Iran and its interests continues, and as long as all the violations committed by [07:05] America during this period continue, naturally no significant development or major change will [07:11] take place regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. An understanding on the [07:18] route for safe passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is a necessary condition for [07:23] the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but it is not a sufficient condition. Meanwhile in Doha; [07:33] Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesman Majed al-Ansari insisted that Qatar, Pakistan, [07:39] and Oman, were engaged in mediation efforts to reach a negotiated solution with Iran. [07:47] We can confirm that the efforts are still ongoing with all the parties. We are looking towards a [07:54] diplomatic resolution as we are speaking right now. As you know, there are current efforts on [07:58] the ground that are in very progressive stages, and we are working with all the parties to see [08:05] this effort (through). So, I can confirm that the efforts are ongoing as we speak. While the Qatari [08:10] Foreign Ministry spokesman insisted in English that negotiations were underway, he told Arab [08:15] reporters that no deal had been achieved, and that what matters to Qatar is returning to the [08:22] negotiations – clearly indicating that talks are not underway. Meanwhile in Israel; Prime Minister [08:29] Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with Dr. Gadi Taub on his “Shomer Ha-Saf” podcast, reiterated [08:37] his scepticism over diplomatic efforts with the Ayatollah regime yielding positive results. Look, [08:47] we are working with them (the U.S. Administration) in cooperation and in genuine consultation. My [08:52] last conversation at the White House, a number of days ago, was a discussion that I can even call [08:57] brainstorming. Truely, brainstorming about the possibilities. Largely, there are three options: [09:05] The first includes conducting a type of negotiation that will lead to a deal. I [09:11] did not hide my scepticism about the viability of a deal with this regime that constantly lies and [09:16] continually drags its feet. But we can try and if we succeed, please. The second option entails the [09:24] continuation of the (naval) blockade, blocking the Strait for them (the Iranians), and the sanctions. [09:32] The third option Prime Minister Netanyahu mentioned relates to a military option. However, [09:38] the devastation of such an option may lead to dire consequences to the region, and potentially [09:44] beyond. Prime Minister Netanyahu further highlighted President Trump’s economic calculus. [09:56] Trump’s calculus, and I respect it, is that he does not want to see the global economy [10:00] collapse. And it isn’t clear, yes... you and I can assess what a global economic collapse mean, [10:06] and what may come first. The collapse of the Iranian economy, [10:10] which is currently at 85 percent inflation, and can easily reach hyper inflation... [10:19] it is interesting to note that Iran is desperately trying to project economic resilience, with the [10:24] Ayatollah regime’s Finance Minister claiming that Tehran’s economy could sustain for another [10:30] two years. However, according to available data, Iran records highest-ever misery index, [10:38] which is calculated by adding the point-to-point inflation rate to the unemployment rate, [10:44] standing at an unprecedented 91.1 – a surge of 16.9 points in a single quarter. [10:52] The radical surge, which relates to roughly 82 percent inflation and an unemployment rate at [10:59] 9.1 percent, indicates a rapid deterioration in economic conditions in the country.
