This weekend, Europe burned.

This weekend, Europe burned. In France, protests over rent and groceries turned into the worst riots in years. A town hall was set on fire, shops were looted and more than 1,800 people were arrested. In Paris, a synagogue was ransacked, with holy books thrown on the floor and the Torah ark (the cabinet that holds the Torah scrolls) forced open. Jewish-owned businesses were hit too. In Milan and Bologna, the same scenes: fires, looting, clashes with police. And in the middle of it all, Palestinian flags and chants of “Palestine will win.” A protest about the cost of living became a riot waving someone else’s flag. That’s not a coincidence. What starts with the Jews never ends with the Jews.
