Transcript [00:01] When you volunteer, you discover another [00:04] side of the country that people never [00:06] talked about. [00:07] >> We have volunteers come from all over [00:08] the world who actually sort food and [00:10] vegetables. It's all produce excess pro- [00:13] produce that we receive from farmers all [00:15] over Israel. [00:15] >> [music] [00:16] >> And then afterwards it goes to all our [00:18] 340 nonprofits all over Israel. [00:20] >> I come from Paris and I'm here with a [00:22] group of um young [music] girls. I come [00:25] here to volunteer and to help Israel cuz [00:28] I think it's very, very important to [00:30] show our support from France. [00:32] >> We're here today volunteering at Leket. [00:34] I'll be here all week [00:36] working mornings and afternoons. I came [00:38] to Israel for 2 weeks and I'm giving 1 [00:40] week to Leket and um I'm enjoying it. [00:43] Means a lot. [00:45] >> Usually people come here um because they [00:47] want to give something extra. You know, [00:49] it's all good and nice that you want to [00:50] visit as well, go to hotels, enjoy the [00:52] beach, but people want to give extra [00:55] value. So, they're looking for an extra [00:56] value, especially since October 7th. So, [00:59] they come here and they visit, which is [01:01] perfectly fine. It's so important to [01:03] visit Israel, go to the beaches, see the [01:04] perfect sides of like of, you know, [01:06] Israel, but in the end people want to [01:08] give extra and this is we give them the [01:10] opportunity to actually do extra, which [01:12] is volunteering. [01:13] >> I used to be a farmer [01:16] raising vegetables [01:18] all kind of stuff. And I have [01:19] appreciation for [01:22] for this. I came here and just the [01:23] people, the energy, the [01:26] the everybody works together. [01:28] >> I thought it was a very good idea to do [01:30] something with my own hands, you know, [01:32] to help. Not just to give charity [01:35] because when you give charity, you're [01:36] not really like involved in in the [01:39] things. [music] When you're working with [01:40] your own hands, you also like [01:44] um it's come from your soul. [01:46] >> The underprivileged people really [01:48] benefit [01:49] from what you see here. [01:51] And there's many. [01:52] >> This goes [music] to people that are [01:54] hungry, they need food, families for uh [01:57] of soldiers uh that need food. [02:00] And to me that was a great need and it's [02:03] a honor to help fill that need. [02:05] >> Just the feeling [02:07] that you can take something [02:11] that somebody doesn't know what to do [02:13] with it [02:14] and feed thousands of people is like [02:17] amazing. [02:18] >> One of our volunteer opportunities is [02:20] also helping our partner farmers [02:23] because since October 7th [music] we [02:25] realize there's a a need in the end of [02:26] farmers are stuck with no Thai workers [02:28] they have to feed the country, no [02:29] Palestinian workers [music] [02:31] and they needed more help. So this is [02:32] where we said, you know what, we'll [02:33] adapt to the situation and we sent free [02:36] transportation with volunteer with [02:38] volunteers to help all of our partner [02:39] farmers all over Israel. [music] If it's [02:41] cleaning, seeding, picking, whatever the [02:43] farmer needs at that time. [02:46] A lot of people when they come here they [02:48] [music] actually thank me for the [02:49] opportunity. Thank you for thank you for [02:51] letting us come to volunteer but it's [02:52] actually thanks to them that we can do [02:54] that work and they're so happy they can [02:56] actually feed the food and vegetables. [02:58] We have also volunteers who go to all of [02:59] our partner farmers and they love when [03:01] they can actually, you know, touch the [03:03] soil [03:04] >> [music] [03:04] >> and they really they they get so [03:07] emotional and it's part of what I love [03:09] seeing is the it's the attachment. They [03:12] really love Israel and from far, you [03:14] know, what can you do? You can't do so [03:16] much from far. And when you come to [03:18] Israel you just have to take the chance [03:20] and come a volunteer.
