Transcript [00:04] Shalom. I've got a question for you [00:06] today. How is your heart? Is it [music] [00:09] willing? Is it willing to do um the will [00:13] and the works of the Lord? Is it stirred [00:16] to do those things? [music] Is your [00:18] heart moved to do God's will and his [00:22] [music] pleasure? Let's be checking our [00:25] hearts. I got one more question. Also, [00:27] as we're going around the things that [00:30] God gives us to do and going around the [00:32] just our daily life, are we [music] [00:35] doing it as the Lord commanded? And [00:38] we're going to see that he uses these [00:40] phrases [music] so many times as we go [00:43] through this Torah portion. Now, this is [00:44] a double port uh [music] double Torah [00:46] portion. We're going to finish the book [00:48] of Exodus today. Um these portions are [00:50] vayl and kud and [music] it's exodus 351 [00:55] through chapter 40 verse 38 if you put [00:57] the two together the ha [music] [01:00] Ezekiel 45 16- 46:18 [01:04] and the new [music] covenant portion 2 [01:06] Corinthians 9:es 6-11. So, as we're [01:11] going through the [music] very [01:13] beginning, starting in Exodus 35, [01:16] um we it says right here, oh, but he [01:19] starts with the Shabbat. Look in [music] [01:21] in um chapter 35:2, [01:24] for 6 days work may be done, but on the [01:27] [music] seventh day you shall have a [01:28] holy day, a Shabbat of complete rest to [01:32] the Lord. Then he goes on and in verse [01:34] four, Moses spoke to the congregation of [01:36] those sons [music] of Israel, saying, [01:37] "This is the thing which the Lord has [01:40] commanded, saying,"Take from among you a [01:43] [music] contribution to the Lord, [01:45] whoever is of a willing heart." Now, we [01:49] have [music] already seen because God [01:50] was speaking to Moses up on the mountain [01:53] and he told [music] him the pattern [01:55] exactly how to make this Mishkan, this [01:58] tabernacle, this place where he would [02:00] dwell in the midst of [music] his [02:01] people. He said what color the garment [02:04] the garments were supposed to be of the [02:06] priest. The the red and the blue [music] [02:08] and the gold. This fabric which was [02:11] supposed to be inside the Mishan. The [02:14] types of skins that were supposed to be [02:16] on [music] the roof. God described it [02:18] all in great detail. And we really see [02:21] it again [music] here because what we [02:23] heard earlier was God telling Moses to [02:26] do it. And now it's coming to the moment [02:28] when they're [music] actually doing it. [02:31] So, they're taking up offerings [music] [02:34] to gather all of the stuff that God had [02:37] said should be used to build the [02:39] Mishkan, the tabernacle. But what [02:41] [music] he says over and over, now I [02:43] counted eight times. You may count even [02:45] more. I'm not I'm not um standing on [02:47] that. I may have missed it. But eight [02:50] times God talks [music] here about [02:53] people giving with a willing heart, with [02:57] a heart that is stirred to give, with a [02:59] heart that is moved to give. And he [03:01] talks about both men [music] and women [03:04] giving. We are all to give to the Lord [03:07] with a generous, [music] loving, and [03:09] willing heart. So he asked the people, [03:11] "Bring, it's time to make [music] the [03:13] tabernacle. Bring this stuff in." And [03:16] that's what the people did. they brought [03:18] in these these contributions. Now the [03:22] work needed [music] to be done by [03:24] somebody. Now this is another thing that [03:26] was also mentioned so much in this [03:28] particular portion talking about skilled [03:30] people. When we get into chapter 36, [03:32] [music] it says, "Now Betal and Ohav and [03:37] [music] every skillful person in whom [03:40] the Lord has put skill and understanding [03:43] to know how to perform all the work in [03:46] the [music] construction of the [03:47] sanctuary. They shall perform in [03:50] accordance with all that the Lord has [03:53] commanded." [music] And so going on also [03:55] in verse n all the skillful men among [03:59] those who were performing [music] the [04:00] work made made the tabernacle. So [04:04] God [music] has given certain people [04:07] certain skills and and just challenging [04:10] to be asking God [music] [04:12] what have you given to me? What is my [04:14] portion? You know God has given to [04:16] certain people the art where they can [04:18] just sit down and draw anything. Other [04:21] people can dance. [music] Other people [04:22] can sing. Other people are good with [04:24] administration or teaching. There's so [04:28] many giftings that [music] God gives to [04:30] his body. And all together we make one [04:33] whole and we are able to [music] do the [04:36] work of the Lord bringing the kingdom of [04:37] God when we all work together because of [04:40] the skills that he's given to [music] [04:43] different people. Moving on. [04:47] All these little pages are [music] so [04:50] hard to turn. [04:52] Um, we see that Bet Sal and his team, [04:56] they're doing the work. They're making [04:58] the [music] things that God said to make [05:00] for the Mishkan. And then when we get to [05:03] Kud, that next portion, which I said [05:05] this is a double portion, and it starts [05:07] in [music] in Exodus 38 21. This is the [05:11] number of the things for the tabernacle, [05:13] the tabernacle of the testimony, as they [05:16] [music] were numbered according to the [05:17] command of Moses. In verse 24, all the [05:20] gold that was used for the work in all [05:22] the work of the sanctuary, [music] even [05:24] the gold of the wave offering was 29 [05:27] talents and 730 shekels [music] [05:30] according to the shekele of the [05:31] sanctuary. The silver of those of the [05:34] congregation who were numbered was [05:36] [music] 100 talents and 1,775 [05:39] shekels according to the shekele of the [05:41] sanctuary. So it goes on. They exactly [05:44] counted [05:45] what was used [music] in the making of [05:48] the tabernacle. All right, going on. Now [05:52] when we [music] get to 39, chapter 39 of [05:54] Exodus, that's when we hear this next [05:56] phrase where it says, "Just [music] as [05:59] the Lord commanded Moses." Because [06:01] remember on the mountain, that was the [06:03] pattern. Now they're doing it and [06:06] everything they're doing, [music] it [06:08] says, is just as the Lord commanded. So [06:10] in Exodus 39:1, moreover, from the blue [06:14] and [music] purple and scarlet material, [06:16] they made finely woven garments for [06:18] ministering in the holy place, as well [06:19] as the holy garments, which were for [06:22] Aaron, [music] just as the Lord [06:23] commanded. And so, um, how many times [06:26] did I see that? I saw that so many times [06:30] as [music] I went through here. [06:31] Something like 16 times. Um, I'm going [06:34] to continue on. And when we get to [06:36] chapter 39, verse 32, [music] it says [06:40] they had been making every every little [06:43] piece, you know, the um the [music] [06:45] garments for the priest, um the the gold [06:49] things that needed to be in the [06:50] tabernacle. And in verse 32, it [music] [06:52] says, "Thus all the work of the [06:54] tabernacle of the tent of meeting was [06:56] completed. [music] And the sons of [06:58] Israel did according to all that the [07:01] Lord had commanded Moses." [music] [07:04] So they did. In verse 42, so the sons of [07:08] Israel did all the work, according to [07:10] all that the Lord had commanded Moses. [07:12] And Moses examined all the work, and [07:15] [music] behold, they had done it, just [07:18] as the Lord had commanded. [music] this [07:20] they had done. And so Moses blessed [07:23] them. In [snorts] chapter 40:1, [music] [07:26] the Lord spoke to Moses saying, "On the [07:28] first day of the first month, you shall [07:32] set up the [music] Mishkan, the [07:34] tabernacle, the tent of meeting, you [07:37] shall place [music] the ark of the [07:39] testimony there, and you shall screen [07:42] the ark [music] with the veil or the [07:45] poet." So the first thing God starts [07:48] with is is what [music] I've called [07:50] before like the beating heart of God. We [07:52] know that the ark of the covenant [07:55] represented the presence of God [music] [07:58] and there it was sitting in the holy of [08:01] holies and it was [music] veiled off by [08:04] the poet and no one could even go in [08:07] there except [music] for the high priest [08:09] and only one day a year. [08:14] In verse n it says, "Then [music] [08:16] you shall take the anointing oil and [08:18] anoint the tabernacle and all that is in [08:21] it and shall consecrate [music] it and [08:24] all its furnishings and it shall be [08:26] holy." So this tabernacle, it was [08:29] consecrated. It was set apart. It wasn't [08:32] to be used for anything except the [08:36] worship [music] [08:37] of the Lord God of Israel. There was to [08:40] be no idolatry in that house. there was [08:43] to be beautiful, pure worship [music] [08:47] going on to the God of Israel. In verse [08:50] um 12 it says, "Then you shall bring [08:54] Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the [08:56] [music] tent of meeting and wash them [08:58] with water. You shall put the holy [09:00] garments on [music] Aaron and anoint him [09:03] and consecrate him that he may minister [09:06] as a [music] priest to me. You shall [09:08] bring his sons and put tunics on them, [09:11] and you shall anoint [music] them even [09:13] as you have anointed their father, that [09:15] they may minister as [music] priests to [09:17] me, and their anointing will qualify [09:20] them for a perpetual priesthood [09:23] throughout their generations. Thus Moses [09:25] [music] did according to all that the [09:28] Lord had commanded him. [music] So he [09:31] did. [09:33] In verse 32, when they entered the tent [09:36] of meet, let's go to [music] verse 31. [09:38] From it, Moses and Aaron and his sons [09:40] washed their hands and their feet. And [09:42] when they entered the tent of meeting, [09:45] and when they approached [music] the [09:46] altar, they washed just as the Lord [09:49] commanded Moses. [music] [09:51] He erected the court all around the [09:53] tabernacle and the altar and hung up the [09:56] veil for the gate gateway [music] of the [09:58] court. And thus Moses finished the work. [10:02] So in all these chapters leading up to [10:05] this, [music] God was giving the pattern [10:09] and in these two portions, it is [10:12] happening. [music] It's actually being [10:14] done. And we see that the work is [10:17] finished. The [music] tabernacle is [10:19] ready. And in verse 34, the cloud [10:23] covered the tent of meeting [music] and [10:25] the glory of the Lord filled the [10:28] tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter [10:31] [music] the tent of meeting because the [10:33] cloud had settled on it and the glory of [10:36] the Lord filled the tabernacle [music] [10:39] throughout all their journeys. Whenever [10:42] the cloud was taken [music] up from over [10:44] the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would [10:46] set out. But if the cloud was not taken [10:49] up, then they did not [music] set out [10:52] until the day when it was taken up. For [10:55] throughout all their journeys, the cloud [10:57] of the Lord was on the tabernacle by [11:00] day, [music] and there was fire in it by [11:03] night, in the sight of all the [music] [11:06] house of Israel. And how beautiful is [11:08] this? Because it says throughout all [11:10] their [music] journeys. And what are we [11:12] all on? We are just all on a journey. We [11:16] are on our way to our eternal home. [11:19] [music] And let's be watching to follow [11:22] that cloud, that pillar of cloud. [11:25] [music] Pillar and how does it call it? [11:27] Um by day, there was fire by night. And [11:30] and and they could see it. And they [11:32] followed. What it meant [music] was they [11:33] were following the will of the Lord as [11:36] much as they as much as they could see [11:38] it. [music] And for us as well, you [11:40] know, we we can think, wow, that was [11:42] just very physical. They could obviously [11:44] follow [music] it. But God does. He [11:46] speaks to us. He moves in our hearts and [11:48] he moves us um if we have an ear to [11:51] [music] listen. So let's just be [11:53] listening to how he would lead us and to [11:56] do everything [music] according. Let's [11:58] see how does it say as the Lord [12:00] commanded. I bless you today. Have a [12:02] wonderful day.
