Transcript [00:00] The United States deserves an A+ grade in the war with Iran. That's what President Donald Trump has [00:07] announced. Iran is going allin trying to carry out a plan that would hit Americans where it [00:15] hurts most in their wallets. It appears that the Shiite axis of resistance is back in a major way. [00:23] Iraq, the Houthis, and Iran are all operating under the assumption that President Donald Trump [00:31] is weak. The United States is sending a direct message to Iran, open Homus, [00:37] or you will take a very hard hit. So, is an announcement on an agreement expected as early [00:44] as today? The United States and Iran are in the final stages of a deal on the Strait of Hormuz. [00:52] But in Israel, officials are not buying the report that the United States has run out of weapons. We [00:58] will bring you all the details. Dozens of meters long, the IDF destroyed the Kizbala terror tunnel [01:06] in southern Lebanon. And we will also bring you the next stage in dismantling the Kizbala [01:11] terrorist organization. The battle over southern Lebanon is moving to Rome. And could the pilot [01:17] zones in southern Lebanon signal the beginning of the end of the era? A chroen horse in Gaza. [01:25] Dozens of kamas terrorists were caught trying to infiltrate militias walking with Israel. [01:32] The IDF continues to eliminate kamas terrorists inside Gaza. And following the crisis with Qatar, [01:38] the Hamas terrorist organization is preparing to move its address to a surprising location. [01:44] I'm Pinto. Ashley Alex is with me and we have boots in the ground. We bring you the full truth [01:50] about what's happening in Israel and the full truth about what's happening in our neighborhood, [01:54] the Middle East. Today is August 5th. So, let's begin. They just make me angry. Everything they [02:01] do makes me angry, said President Donald Trump last week about Iran's leadership. On Monday, [02:08] he sharpened his tone and described Iran's behavior towards Washington as unbelievably [02:14] cunning. The new agreement to open the Strait of Hummus may be close, but Iran is still insisting [02:21] on collecting fees in the straight, a demand that Trump has called unacceptable. His failure [02:28] to secure an agreement together with the ongoing standoff over this vital shipping route is costing [02:34] him politically and contributing to the vol volatality in the oil prices that keeps going [02:42] up and down all the time. President Donald Trump won't overnight that Iran will suffer [02:48] suffer a very hard hit if it backs away from the understandings that are being negotiating over the [02:54] reopening of the Strait of Hmus and the nuclear project. Answering reporters questions that [03:00] president estimated that the picture would become clearer within 48 hours. If they back out again [03:09] they will take a very hard hit. They know it and they understand it. I will have no choice. They [03:18] cannot have a nuclear weapon. That's very simple. End quote. By Trump. And behind the scenes, [03:25] reports say that sides are moving closer to a temporary 60-day arrangement with no fees and with [03:32] separate shipping lanes for each direction. Trump added that the contacts with Iran are moving in a [03:38] positive direction and promised that Thran will not obtain a nuclear weapon and at the same time [03:44] he claimed that the American economy is thriving emphasized the importance of the race against [03:51] China in the artificial intelligence and praised his tariff policy. It appeals that officials in [03:57] the administration are pushing to announce an agreement that would allow the straight [04:01] of Homus to reopen. President Trump said that the United States plan to carry out the biggest [04:07] attack since World War II and then they called if they change their minds again, a hard blow [04:14] will come down on them. Iran is turning control of the Strait of Hmouth into a pressure tool [04:21] against the United States, hoping that rising oil prices will cause Trump to avoid another strike. [04:28] But this move may deepen Iran's isolation and worsen the country's economic crisis. Look, the [04:35] leadership in Tehran has made a faithful strategic decision in the middle of its direct confrontation [04:40] with President Donald Trump. Iran has drawn a red line that it says it's not up for negotiation. [04:49] Maintaining full control over the straight of Hmus by using forceful authority over this critical [04:55] waterway through which massive amounts of crude oil flow to the global markets. Tehran is betting [05:02] that its ability to cause serious damage to the American economy is its best bargaining chip. [05:09] The ambitious goal is to prevent any future military action by the United States of America [05:14] and Islam. Iran believes that high fuel prices and rising inflation will eventually force President [05:20] Trump to accept its terms, especially ahead of the approaching midterm elections, which [05:25] may determine the future of his presidency inside the White House. Placing control of the Straight [05:31] of Hormuz at the center of its strategy is an extraordinary gamble by the Islamic Republic. [05:37] The movie is based on the assumption that Trump will prefer a volatile and messy statement and a [05:43] stallmate over the fighting over a fullscale and bloody war. But by using this card so [05:49] aggressively, Thran risks understanding and underestimating Washington's breaking point and [05:55] may be endangering its own economic survival. And look, I want to make something clear and [06:01] put my finger on an important point. The latest reports about dwindling Patriot stocks, missiles, [06:08] and all the leaks to the media regarding the Americans military strength are probably part [06:13] of the president's strategic decision to return to the negotiating track. It is true that inventories [06:21] have gone down because of use, but the United States is a massive weapons production superpower. [06:31] In the end, this is also a debate about money. The more funding the president receives from Congress [06:38] for the war efforts, the more he can produce. Right now, he has not even declared war and he [06:45] does not have congressional author authorization. So, this is also an internal struggle between the [06:52] White House and Congress over munitions. The second point is that this gives a military [06:58] cover story to a strategic decision to pursue negotiations. If someone has decided to leave the [07:04] military path and move to the diplomatic path, it is more convenient to also have a military excuse. [07:11] We do not have enough munitions. After all, United States divides the world into regional commands. [07:18] Each regional command has munitions for current use, reserve munitions, and munitions that can be [07:25] transferred from nearby commands. It is possible that significant allocations have been used, [07:31] but that does not mean that the United States cannot bring patriot missiles here. I do not [07:37] think that this is what is pushing the United States towards negotiations. What is pushing them [07:43] more is the desire to change the balance of power against the revolutionary guards who are holding [07:48] on to the regime by their finger nails. Under the current strike framework, which is based mainly [07:56] on air strikes, the United States military is not currently able to create a dramatic change in the [08:02] regime's power and its structure. What the future will bring, we do not know. But when it comes to [08:08] negotiations, the chance that they will produce a real nuclear agreement is extremely small because [08:15] Iran has still not given up on its any of its red lines, not even on homem. Iran may possibly give [08:23] up in the first stage on collecting direct taxes, but in the second stage, it will already try to [08:29] collect environmental fees, security services fees, and all kinds of other covert stories. [08:36] Iran insists on some form of proof of its sovereign control over the strait of Hmuz [08:41] because that gives it both cash flow and the image of victory and that's exactly what the [08:47] president of the United States has already made clear that he will not allow and against the [08:52] backdrop of the talks in Rome, Israel, Lebanon and the United States are trying to agree on a [08:57] mechanism to verify the dismantling of in southern Lebanon and the expansion of the pilot zones. [09:05] Italy is one of the countries being considered to carry out that purification. And at the same time, [09:12] an Israeli source said that a positive dynamic has been recorded. The political dispute over the [09:19] framework agreement with Israel reflects the real battlefield over Lebanon's future. The concept [09:24] of a sovereign state versus the continued influence of Iran throughbala. And in Gaza, [09:32] is the Hamas terrorist organization preparing to move its address? Against the backdrop of [09:38] growing tensions with Qatar and the restrictions placed on Kamas leadership in DHA after Khalil [09:43] Kaya was chosen as the head of the political bureau, the terror organization is preparing [09:48] to move major parts of its covert activities and actions to Turkey. So at the same time, [09:55] assassination attempts in Gaza have been thwarted. Is arrested dozens of Hamas terrorists who [10:00] infiltrated militias. In an attempt to preserve its role, Hamas is sending terror operatives to [10:07] infiltrate the ranks of local militias that cooperate with Israel in order to eliminate [10:13] their leaders. Dozens of terrorists were arrested and are being interrogated by the Shinbet. In one [10:20] case, they came within touching distance of carrying out an assassination. So there's a [10:26] lot ahead of us. Let's dive into the details. I'm Pinto Mati Shashani is filming an explainer for [10:33] all of us today. Okay, shop.tbnisrael.com and be part of the team. [12:24] Be part of the mission. Israeli troops have destroyed another terror tunnel in southern [12:31] Lebanon. Forces from the 91st Division led by the 300th Brigade and the IDF's Elite Alam combat [12:39] engineering unit located the underground route near Sabrin and demolished it. The tunnel extended [12:46] for dozens of meters and was used to prepare attacks against Israeli forces in the security [12:51] zone. Nearby troops from the Kir brigade found a weapons depot containing launchers and rockets. [13:00] Soldiers from the fourth brid for fourth brigade uncovered additional caches with AK-47 rifles, [13:07] anti-tank rockets, and other combat equipment. So why is the IDF destroying tunnels while Israeli [13:13] and Lebanese representatives are negotiating a new security arrangement in Rome? I'll tell [13:19] you why. Because the agreement depends on one practical question. When Isa leaves an area, [13:25] who makes sure that does not return beneath the ground? The Rome talks are focused on expanding [13:32] the pilot zone program. Israeli forces withdraw from a defined area. The Lebanese army enters [13:39] and the zone is supposed to be cleared of hisbala fighters, weapons, launch sites, [13:44] tunnels and command infrastructure. The pilot zone areas began around Fra and Zar El Gabria. [13:55] Lebanon is asking for the next stage to include either Binbel or Kaim. Both locations carry [14:02] military and also political weight. Binbell is the stronghold where Kassan delivered his spiderweb [14:09] speech in 2000. Kheim is another sensitive center near routes and terrain used by the organization. [14:17] Moving the program into either town would test whether the Lebanese state can search buildings, [14:23] remove launchers, block tunnels, arrest armed operatives, and prevent Kizbala from returning [14:29] after Israel redeploys. Verification remains the central dispute. Israel initially wanted [14:35] the right to re-enter a pilot zone and confirmed that hisbala had been removed. [14:41] Beirut rejected that demand, arguing that an Israeli inspection would undermine the Lebanese [14:46] sovereignty. The sides are now considering an international alternative. Italy is one possible [14:54] participant and the Lebanese military officials have discussed future assistance with senior [15:00] Italian officers. The debate also concerns Unifi whose current mandate expires at the end of this [15:07] year. Islam and the United States do not want the existing force to issue the final certification [15:12] that has been disarmed. And that's why the Sabin tunnel matters. It matters to diplomats in Rome. [15:21] His troops are exposing the infrastructure that another force may eventually be expected [15:26] to find and remove. Hisbala opposes the pilot plan because success would weaken its claims [15:33] that only the resistance can protect Lebanon. Its Lebanese opponents answered that several [15:40] clear villages are meaningless if the organization remains armed elsewhere. The same battle over the [15:48] alternative power is unfolding in Gaza. Israeli security forces are holding dozens of Hamas [15:54] operatives who allegedly tried to infiltrate local armed groups that are cooperating with Israel, [16:01] local armed Palestinian groups in Gaza. So their mission was to enter those organization quietly [16:07] and then assassinate the commandos from inside. One major target was militia commonly known as Abu [16:15] Shabbab. In one case, a Hamas operative reportedly reached the final stage of an assassination plan [16:22] before the plot was detected. Hamas is also changing and external deployment. Palestinian [16:31] sources say that it has begun transferring covert units involved in operational planning [16:38] and cyber activity from Qatar to Turkey while the visible political leadership remains in DHA. The [16:45] shift follows Qatari restrictions on senior kamas officials. Tension increased after Khalil Kaya, [16:51] who is closer to Iran's axis, was chosen to lead the political bureau instead of Khaled Mashal, [16:57] who is closer to Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood network. That internal election is changing the [17:04] map of Hamas operations. Further south, the Houthis are attacking the routes designed to [17:11] bypass the crisis in Hmuz. The Iranian-backed group claimed that it fired missiles at a Saudi [17:17] oil tanker near Yanbu, the kingdom's made Red Sea expert hub, Saudi authorities, the operator, and [17:24] independent maritime agencies had not immediately confirmed damage or casualties. The claim matters [17:31] because Saudi Arabia redirected major oil flows towards Yanbu when Homus became dangerous. [17:37] Tankillers leaving that port must still sail towards Babel Mandab within a range of Huti [17:43] missiles and drones. Iran's network is applying pressure through different methods. Tunnels in [17:49] Lebanon, infiltration in Gaza, organizational movement through Turkey, and threats against [17:55] energy routes in the Red Sea. Before we continue, help us share the truth. The military operations show how Iran's [18:55] patterns are adapting. The political question is what President Trump believes he can force Iran to [19:01] stop. For the American side of this story, let's turn to Ashley Alex, the one and only. Thanks, [19:10] Air. The White House is preparing for the possibility that an interim agreement on [19:15] the Straight of Hum could be announced within hours. President Trump says American forces had [19:20] been preparing what he described as the largest military attack since the Second World War. [19:26] He says the operation was stopped after Iran and several Gulf allies requested more time [19:31] for diplomacy. Trump is presenting that pause as a final opportunity, not the removal of the military [19:38] option. He says negotiations continued throughout the day and warns that Iran will face a severe [19:44] strike if it reverses course again. The immediate goal is a temporary agreement that reopens and [19:51] restores commercial traffic. A wider negotiation would then address enriched uranium, centrifuges, [19:58] sanctions, frozen funds, and long-term restriction on Iran's nuclear program. Washington and Tyran [20:06] still disagree over the first stage. The United States wants free passage without compulsory [20:11] tolls or Iranian permission. Iran wants their American naval blockade lifted and is seeking [20:17] a recognized role in supervising ships entering the Persian Gulf. Under the reported proposal, [20:24] incoming vessels would use a northern lane closer to Iran, while outgoing ships would use a southern [20:29] lane closer to Oman. Iran describes possible charges as service fees for security, navigation, [20:36] and environmental protection. Washington sees compulsory payment as an attempt to turn [20:42] military pressure into recognized control over an international waterway. Mediators say most parts [20:49] of an interim arrangement are close to completion. However, Iran's Supreme Leader had not given final [20:56] approval whether the latest information emerged. That's critical. Iranian diplomats can negotiate [21:03] a formula, but the Supreme Leader and the Revolutionary Guards determine whether ships [21:08] are attacked and whether nuclear concessions are accepted. Trump is also selling the negotiations [21:13] as an economic success. He has linked progress in hum to lower energy prices, cited gasoline at [21:20] roughly $2.50 per gallon, and graded his economic performance an A+. The message to American voters [21:28] is that military pressure produced negotiations and could prevent another long war. Iran is making [21:34] the opposite calculation. The Revolutionary Guards believe control over Homos may be their strongest [21:40] remaining lever after serious damage to Iran's nuclear facilities, missile production, navy, [21:47] and regional allies. More cautious officials fear the strategy could destroy the economy they are [21:53] trying to preserve. The International Monetary Fund projects that Iran's economy will contract [22:00] by approximately 5.4% 4% in 2026, while consumer price inflation approaches 69%. The blockade and [22:09] renewed sanctions are restricting exports, cutting state revenue, and increasing pressure on Iranian [22:15] families. Thran is gambling that Washington feels urgency more intensely than Iran does. [22:21] Former American officials warned that Thran interprets deadlines as evidence that Washington [22:26] needs an agreement quickly. The United States is watching fuel prices, military inventories, [22:33] public opinion, and the November midterm elections, while Iran's system is designed [22:37] to wait. Trump has accused Thran of requesting talks privately and denying them publicly. Iran [22:44] answers that it's speaking only with Oman. Both claims can technically be true if messages are [22:51] passing through intermediaries without a formal direct meeting. The administration must judge [22:57] the agreement through actions. Do ships cross safely? Are compulsory payments abandoned? Are [23:03] attacks by the Houthis and other Iranian partners reduced? Does Tyran permit meaningful nuclear [23:09] verification? The United States is applying the same test in Lebanon. American officials [23:15] described the Rome talks as part of a wider effort to restore Lebanese state authority, [23:20] remove Iranianbacked threats from Israel's border, and create conditions for a future [23:25] peace and security agreement. The technical teams are discussing border questions, the expansion of [23:32] pilot zones, the deployment of the Lebanese army, Israeli redeployment, and a credible method for [23:38] verifying Hezbollah's disarmament. This links Rome to Homos. In both negotiations, the issue [23:45] is whether armed capabilities are actually removed rather than moved beyond the inspector's view. If [23:51] Homus reopens, but the revolutionary guards retain the ability to close it again, Iran preserves its [23:56] leverage. If the Lebanese army enters a pilot zone, while keeps weapons nearby, preserves its [24:04] leverage. If Hamas transfers convert operations from Qatar to Turkey, the address changes while [24:11] the threat remains. Yer, an announcement may come soon. The true measure will be whether [24:18] these agreements dismantle capabilities instead of merely relocating them. Back to you. Thank you so [24:25] much, Ashley. Across Lebanon, Gaza, Turkey, and the Red Sea, Iran's partners are adapting faster [24:32] than diplomats can write new agreements. Will the new arrangement dismantle those networks or simply [24:38] give them time to change their methods? Let me know what you think about this in the comments [24:43] and keep spreading the truth.
