Can someone curse what God has chosen to bless?
In Numbers 22–25, King Balak of Moab becomes afraid of the people of Israel and calls upon Balaam to curse them. His plan seems simple: use spiritual power to weaken the people of God. But something remarkable happens. Every time Balaam prepares to speak a curse over Israel, God turns his words into blessing. Then, in the middle of these prophetic declarations, Balaam speaks words that would echo through the generations: “A Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel.” — Numbers 24:17
These words point toward the coming King from Israel and ultimately to Yeshua the Messiah.Yet this week’s reading also carries a serious warning. When Israel could not be defeated through opposition from the outside, compromise from within became the greater danger.
Join Pastor Israel Pochtar from Israel as he explores this powerful biblical account and reveals what Balaam’s prophecy teaches us about Yeshua, God’s faithfulness to Israel, and the importance of remaining faithful when compromise comes near. What God has spoken cannot be overturned. His purposes will prevail, and His promises remain secure.
