[00:29] You know, because they say [00:31] you know, Christianity or faith in Jesus [00:33] is for the gentiles. If you believe in [00:35] Jesus, you're going out. [music] You're [00:37] abandoning your own religion. [00:38] >> And I tell them, "Show me another rabbi [00:40] in history that through him countless of [00:42] gentiles follow the God of Abraham, [00:44] Isaac, and Jacob." [00:45] >> That's right. We are We We live in a [01:03] beautiful world that he created for us [01:04] and we just try to be the best people [01:06] that we can be. [01:07] >> Now, you come from a Jewish background. [01:11] >> There's like the actual definition of [01:13] like the hard facts of what it means to [01:14] be Jewish [01:15] and that's really being born to, you [01:17] know, a Jewish mother and that makes you [01:20] Jewish. [01:21] To be a religious to be a practicing Jew [01:23] is to follow in, you know, the [01:24] commandments of Hashem. [01:25] >> Did you ever [01:26] ever met a Jewish a Jewish person that [01:28] follows Yeshua or were you the the first [01:30] ones? [01:31] >> Probably not one or two. [01:32] To me, it's a bit of a contradiction in [01:33] terms, but [01:34] >> Why? Why? That's that's interesting. [01:36] >> I I know you want to get into that. [01:38] Very simply, I I believe in a one God, a [01:42] God that does not [01:44] have a possibility of being clothed in [01:45] human form and that's just [01:47] [clears throat] a big red flag for me. [01:48] >> So, when people in the in the Tanakh [01:51] like Abraham, Joshua, Moses, when they [01:54] when they see God when they see the [01:56] Adonai or what do you think they saw [01:59] when they see, you know, [02:01] Abraham to see three anashim, and he [02:03] calls one of them Adonai with a kamatz, [02:05] Adonai under the nun kamatz. So, the [02:07] rabbi say that's only the Lord, capital [02:09] L. What do you think Abraham saw? [02:11] >> I personally don't think Abraham saw a [02:12] person. I think that we [02:15] perceive things. Like, we have a limited [02:17] brain. I mean, I don't know about you. [02:18] I'm not a genius. Uh so, I think that we [02:20] perceive things in only ways that a [02:22] human mind can perceive things, and [02:24] sometimes that's also how we relate to [02:26] other people. Cuz he's infinite. He's [02:28] much harder for us to fathom than we [02:30] can. So, we get to experience a taste of [02:32] Hashem in a way that we can. [02:34] >> So, in Genesis, when Jacob is wrestling [02:37] with the ish, it says ish vayavek ish [02:39] imo, and then he calls the place Pni El [02:42] because I saw Elohim pnei What do you [02:43] think? [02:44] >> An angel and the Lord, two dimensions. [02:45] >> Yeah, ish. [02:46] >> So, you're saying Abraham and the [02:48] angels, Yaakov and angels. I'm saying [02:50] one thing, God does not have a human [02:54] form. Again, he's in everything. He's in [02:55] me. He's in you. He's in the grass. He's [02:57] in everything around us, but he is not a [03:00] physical form. [03:00] >> Yes, but forget the angels. I'm I'm not [03:02] talking about Gabriel and Daniel. That's [03:04] right. What you I I [03:05] >> You're mentioning Yaakov [03:07] wrestled. [03:07] >> it says vayavek ish imo. It doesn't say [03:09] an angel. No angel in the chapter. Ish. [03:12] Ish. And in Abraham, it says three [03:14] anashim and two angels. It says two [03:17] angels went to Sodom and Gomorrah, and [03:18] Abraham is still talking to YHVH. [03:21] >> Okay. [03:22] >> So, it says three people, two of them [03:24] are angels. Two of them I agree with [03:25] you. And with Jacob, it says ish, no [03:27] angel. That's why I'm asking, when Jacob [03:30] is saying I'm I I I saw I saw God and I [03:33] was I [03:34] I ukara it shmo Pni El ki raiti Elohim [03:36] panim el panim after he wrestled with [03:38] that man, which blessed him. [03:40] And it's not an angel, it's an ish. [03:42] How do you see that? With angels, I [03:44] agree with you. [03:45] >> Um I honestly don't know why it says ish [03:47] in one place, and um you know, mal I [03:49] don't think it says the term malach. [03:51] Um but again, I do believe in the the [03:53] different ways that a [03:55] for sure Hashem, but a malach can [03:57] manifest in front of someone. And I [03:58] think it's something that's hard to [04:00] understand within uh Jewish thought. Um, [04:03] but I still would definitely not say [04:05] that like [04:06] it's a physical uh embodiment. [04:08] >> In the Tanakh, you read of people that [04:10] that see God, but nobody shall see me [04:12] and live. So, in the New Testament, they [04:14] said they didn't see God the Father, [04:16] they saw the Son. [04:17] >> I have not read it cover to cover. I've [04:19] probably seen passages. [04:21] >> When you when you did read parts of the [04:23] New Testament, was it parts you didn't [04:24] like, parts you said, "Okay, that sounds [04:26] douche to me. I don't [04:28] >> I think it's you know, you know, you go [04:30] on like a self-help forum, you'll see [04:32] like a nice turn of phrase like turn the [04:34] cheek sounds great. Like it's a great [04:35] mantra. [04:36] >> Oh. [04:36] >> Uh, but again, like that's like [04:40] I've seen that. I've definitely seen [04:41] Christian quotes. And in my personal [04:44] opinion, it was less about Jesus himself [04:46] and more about what people try to make [04:48] of him mostly after he's [04:50] >> Yeah. If Jesus came to came right [04:59] now and saw what Christianity looked [05:00] like, he would not know what in the [05:02] world he's looking at. And if Moshe [05:03] Rabbeinu came down and saw Judaism, [05:05] there are things that he'd be like, "I [05:06] don't know what this is either." So, you [05:09] know, that's my opinion. [05:10] >> Okay, so now you talked about the [05:12] movement. So, the whole New Testament [05:15] pins the faith in the resurrection of [05:17] Yeshua in the third day. Here's the [05:19] thing that scholars are finding hard to [05:22] reconcile with. Scholars that don't [05:23] believe, secular scholars. [05:24] >> scholars are you talking about? [05:26] >> Bart Ehrman, first of all. He's a [05:28] secular scholar, maybe the New Testament [05:30] number one world [05:32] What's the problem with them the problem [05:34] they have is that the New Testament [05:36] itself said [05:37] that the disciples when they saw him [05:39] crucified, they denied him. They ran [05:41] away. They thought they were wrong. [05:43] >> Okay. [05:43] >> And the scholars are saying, "What [05:45] persuaded them after 3 days to go to [05:49] Jerusalem where Yeshua was where was [05:52] brought to crucifixion and and and [05:54] declared that they saw him alive. Those [05:56] the same disciples that that that that [05:58] said we did we we don't know him. He's [06:00] not the Messiah. Leave us alone. What [06:02] persuaded them otherwise after 3 days if [06:04] not the resurrection? [06:06] You believe in the resurrection from [06:07] from the dead, right? The concept. [06:09] >> The concept first of all, I don't know [06:10] how it works personally. [06:11] >> But you believe it will happen in the [06:13] future? [06:13] >> I believe that we are going to [06:14] understand it when if it when it [06:16] happens. [06:17] >> It is possible, right? [06:18] >> It is possible, but that is like this [06:20] conditions. Like meaning when it [06:21] happens, it's not going to be oh yeah, [06:23] this this guy in this part of history [06:25] resurrected and that guy did. It's [06:26] there's a reason why it's essential [06:28] underpinning of the Jewish faith. It's a [06:29] miracle. It's not something that happens [06:31] every ordinary Tuesday, right? Very [06:33] simple person dying 3 days later coming [06:36] back to life [06:37] is not something that [06:39] I believe in or makes sense to me. Um [06:41] but especially and this is again kind of [06:44] I believe that every person they say [06:45] that in every generation someone is born [06:47] who could be the Messiah, but there's [06:48] conditions, right? [06:50] The the temple has to be rebuilt. The [06:52] Jews come back from exile. [06:53] >> Okay, so let me last question. You know, [06:55] many Gentiles around the world think [06:57] that Yeshua is the Messiah. Why do you [06:59] think the Gentiles would pick somebody [07:03] the [07:04] crucified the crucified rabbi 2,000 [07:07] years ago that why would they pick their [07:09] hero and forsake their pagan religions [07:12] for a Jewish crucified rabbi? Why would [07:14] Why do you think countless of do that? [07:16] >> You know, we all love an underdog. [07:18] Everybody loves an underdog. Um the rise [07:21] of Christianity happened in the in the [07:23] in the ebbing of the Roman Empire at a [07:24] time where time was tough. Uh people [07:27] were persecuted and people were looking [07:28] for something to believe in. Like the [07:31] question would be why are not more [07:32] Christians Jews? It's cuz Judaism [07:34] demands a lot of people. It It makes you [07:36] really partake in creating a beautiful [07:39] perfect godly world. Now, of course, [07:42] church is massive. That develops over [07:43] time. And that's again, honestly, [07:45] something you go to college and have [07:46] probably a full semester of study. Then [07:48] I'm not going to be out there uh deal [07:50] with all of the halacha on one foot. [07:51] >> We have been the stewards of the faith. [07:53] >> Yes, true. For many, many thousands of [07:55] years. [07:55] >> We have safeguarded the Torah. We've [07:57] kept the mitzvot. [07:58] >> You're You're quoting Paul. I love it. [08:00] >> Uh I'm quoting [08:02] the Torah. [08:03] >> Romans 11. [08:04] >> I'm quoting the Torah. And the the [08:08] Messiah, when he comes, when we are [08:09] deserving and ready for it. Which, [08:11] honestly, the one of the bigger issues [08:12] is that we're a lot of infighting. It's [08:14] been happening since the time of Jesus, [08:15] by the way. We All these thousands of [08:17] years, we're not so great at coming [08:19] together, but we're working on it. I [08:21] really hope that all of us, all [08:23] humankind, really, learns how to come [08:25] together. And when we do, when we have [08:27] achdut, unity, we will merit Mashiach [08:29] ben David, [08:31] the real Messiah, who who takes care of [08:33] all the conditions and has been and [08:35] we've been waiting for him for so, so [08:37] long. We've rejected all the false ones [08:39] to wait for the real gold. And I really [08:41] hope that the Beit Hamikdash will be [08:43] rebuilt, and we can all Listen, it said [08:45] uh my house will be a house of prayer [08:47] for all the nations. [08:47] >> Amen.
