Ta-Nehisi Coates believes Zionism is racism.
Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland.
Across the world, numerous countries are recognized as the national, cultural, or ancestral homelands of particular peoples. Ireland, Japan, Poland, Armenia, Greece, Iceland, Hungary, and many others.
Most of these countries have populations predominantly made up of people who identify with that nation's history, culture, and ancestral heritage.
Yet you don't hear Coates condemning Irish, Japanese, Polish, Armenian, or Greek national self-determination as inherently racist, do you?
So here's my question: Why is Jewish self-determination uniquely considered racism when the same principle is accepted for so many other nations?
Or is it only a problem when the nation in question is Jewish?
