I tried to film this video several times without stuttering. I couldn’t do it.
So I’m posting the version where I stutter and where my voice breaks a little. And that’s okay.
These are the last words of Captain Eden Provisor, 21, a tank commander who fell in Gaza on November 18, 2023. He dictated them to his father over the phone, three days before he was killed.
The writer David Eagleman wrote that we die three times: when our body stops, when we are buried, and the last time someone says our name.
So I’m asking you: say his name. Eden Provisor.
Tell his story. Share it with someone who hasn’t heard it.
*Why did he call it “the inferno”?
Eden commanded the lead tank of his brigade, the first tank to move forward, from the first day of the ground operation until the day he fell. As his battalion advanced, they fired more and more anti-tank missiles at them, and the lead tank becamean especially vulnerable target. Eden knew it. Two days after he spoke to his father, during the battle in Jabaliya, his tank took a direct missile hit, and he was killed.
