News reports in Israel, both in the print and television media, are constantly filled with news on the Iranian nuclear threat and with speculation on whether or not Israel will carry out a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.  In addition to discussing the threat and debating the best course of action to counter Iran, concern and worry abound over the consequences, such as a regional war or Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon, which would come about as a result of Israeli action or inaction.  Adding to these concerns are the mysterious explosions that have occurred at Iranian military sites this month and the launch of 4 Katyusha rockets from Lebanon that struck northern Israel for the first time since 2009.  In times of uncertainty such as these, and with an awareness that war is likely to come at some point, we must remember and remind others that our ultimate hope, strength and security is to be found in God and the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua.  Furthermore, we must not lose hope in the face of adversity and trial, because we know that God is with us and protects us.

On Dec. 7, 2011 the Jerusalem Post published the story about the judges' decision that Jack Teitel is mentally fit to stand trial with an obvious downplay, calling our family "American Christian Missionaries". As most of you know, the word "missionary" demotes us to the status of someone being under the auspices of the Vatican, or criminals who bribe people to convert to another form of religion. In this mentality it means that you are a stranger, a non-Israeli that has no contribution to Israeli society.  We wrote this letter to protest:

On November 11th 2011 believers around the world gathered in multiple locations in order to pray and worship the Living God. Avi was invited to the Rose Bowl Gathering: A Line in the Sand, as a representative of Israel and the Jewish People. Many of our ministry friends came with the Israeli delegation, including 6 members of Adonai Roi Congregation. In all, over 25,000 people gathered at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California and prayed for nearly 12 hours, 10am to 10pm.

Gingrich's statement about the Palestinians was entirely accurate. That is, the Palestinian people were invented 91 years ago.

In addition to the coffee shop and Bible store ministry that occurs at Dugit, as well as Dugit Live, we also seek to carry out outreach projects within Tel Aviv.  Through these projects we desire to demonstrate the love of Yeshua to the people of Tel Aviv in both physical and spiritual ways.

To celebrate Rosh HaShanah (the Jewish New Year), Congregation Adonai Roi joined with Tiferet Yeshua, another local Messianic congregation, to hold a joint Shabbat service. The service was another opportunity for believers in Tel Aviv to come together in unity to worship the God of Israel and fellowship with one another.

Does the 2,000 year old Matt. 25: 24-30 Parable of the Talents still work in 2011? That’s what our pedagogic director Dr. Adam wanted to find out, so he put it to the test! At one of our recent middle-school morning worship meetings, Dr. Adam related the parable to our young people, giving each child an envelope containing 20 shekels (approximately $5.50). The assignment was for them to practically apply what they read, with the goal of being the “good and faithful servant.” Dr. Adam says, “ The students were quite shocked that someone had given them money, and were told the owner was coming back in two weeks to collect his money.”

As we venture out to conferences and churches to speak about Dugit, we are always asked one question: “Why Tel Aviv?” To understand the answer to this question and the importance of this city for the Kingdom of God one must look at its past, present, and future....

Obama Sarkozy cartoon.jpegThe slurs against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu voiced by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and US President Barack Obama after last week's G20 summit were revealing as well as repugnant.

Thinking no one other than Obama could hear him, Sarkozy attacked Netanyahu, saying, "I can't stand to see him anymore, he's a liar."

Back in 1995 an Israeli political leader penned the following words, “The release of convicted terrorists before they have served their full sentences seems like an easy and tempting way of defusing blackmail situations in which innocent people may lose their lives, but its utility is momentary at best.

“Prisoner releases only embolden terrorists by giving them the feeling that even if they are caught, their punishment will be brief. Worse, by leading terrorists to think such demands are likely to be met, they encourage precisely the terrorist blackmail they are supposed to defuse.”

On the eve of the Jewish celebration of the Feast of Booths/Tabernacles, which is a time of rejoicing for the children of Israel who have blessed the God of Israel for preserving and identifying with them as His people, the news has been full of the deal made with Hamas to release the Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, after more than five years of being held captive without ANY visitations deemed lawful and ethical under conventions legislated by world bodies, such as by the Red Cross under the Geneva Convention.

As Israel and Jewish people worldwide prepare to enter the seven-day festive holiday of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), commemorating the forty-year period in which the children of Israel lived in temporary shelters in the wilderness, a spirit of joy and celebration fills the rain-expectant air across the State of Israel.  After 1,935 days in Hamas captivity, kidnapped IDF soldier, Gilad Shalit, is scheduled to return home, marking 26 years since a IDF prisoner was last returned alive to Israel. Last night, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced the government's courageous decision to free just over 1,000 prisoners to secure the release of Gilad Shalit.  Although the deal will include the release of prisoners directly involved in deadly terror attacks, the Israeli cabinet approved the prisoner swap with a vote of 26 to 3 and endorsed by the IDF, Mossad, and Shin Bet.
