In his 1st century letter to the Romans, the writer, a renowned Torah-trained scholar, began with these words: “Paul, a servant of Yeshua HaMashiach, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God…”

To Be A Jew
Howard Bass | June 28, 2012 |

As a Jew, my destiny and identity is hid with Messiah in God.  The New Testament scriptures tell me both what it is, and how, to be a Jew.  There is an honor attached to being a Jew in the flesh.  But there is a greater honor to be also a Jew whose heart has been circumcised and whose past life has been forgiven.

What a treat it was to have the #1 Slovenian soccer player Marcos Tavares, originally from Brazil, who now plays for NK Maribor. As a very high-profile believer, Tavares shared with our kids ...

We want to thank Howard Bass for his thought-provoking piece, “Leavened or Unleavened Bread?” because it pushed us to search the Scriptures and double-check things we thought we knew. This article is the result.

For the record, our brother Howard made some good and necessary points about the oneness of the Body, and the spiritual insights to be gained from various sacrifices. Just because we are skipping them doesn’t mean we disagreed. There were other points made which we believe need to be tested against Paul’s gospel, but we won’t do that here either. This article examines the idea that Yeshua and His disciples ate leavened bread during Passover.

Divided We Fall

“Divide and conquer!” This is the devil’s specialty. The “roaring lion” has two favorite occasions to divide…
  • After a major setback
  • After a great success

The distinctiveness of Israel, even of its 12 tribes  -- 12 loaves of the showbread [Bread of the Faces/Presence] (Ex 25:30; Lev 24:5-9) —among the nations remains valid all the way through to the end of the coming Millennial Kingdom.

At Dugit Centre we are always looking for groups to come and work with us, specifically to take the message of the Messiah to the people of Tel Aviv. Out on the streets, we can truly meet people face to face and share with them the testimonies of what God has done, and is doing in our lives...

For the last four weeks, Lynn, Dugit’s Canadian Representative, along with Chaya and other Israeli Messianic believers, have been praying over the borders of Israel. Last fall, God began to work in Lynn’s heart, enlivening scriptures about standing in the gap for our nation and our people, and He later called her to pray along the seashores of Israel. Many of these same scriptures, from Joel, Daniel, and Ezekiel, had also been given to believers in the Land, confirming the timing and purpose of this mission.

This is a recent e-mail exchange regarding the bread used for the Lord's Supper, which seems fitting to post now at Shavuot.

(Quote from the questioner)  Re: Using leavened bread for communion: I cannot see any Scriptural warrant for this anywhere, but I can think of a host of objections! – and I list them for your consideration:

Holocaust Survivor Denied Citizenship on the Basis of Faith

We therefore invite you to join us in our battle to secure justice for a Holocaust Survivor named Rose Keller*. Ms. Keller, whose family was murdered in the Holocaust, was unlawfully denied citizenship on the basis of holding Messianic Jewish beliefs. This move to Israel is particularly symbolic as Ms. Keller will be fulfilling her late father’s dream. Letters from her father, written from within the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, urge Ms. Keller to preserve her Jewish identity and to one day return to the Land of Israel.  Although the Ministry of Interior has refused to grant Ms. Keller this right, she is fully entitled to citizenship according to the Law of Return, and therefore cannot legally be denied immigration.

Will the Prime Minister lead us to a better place? Or will we and our children keep “going around the mountain”? Undoubtedly, this is an historic opportunity to establish real change.  If I am to define what leadership is and what the common denominator is of leaders throughout history, I can confidently say that it is their faith in the justice of their cause, combined with the understanding that it comes at a considerable cost.
